# Original galaxy-map system connectors This is an offline analysis of the pinned original executable with SHA-256 `6891f70a021fa9f3a0e00458c284f48d1226e68ae7fc02ad48081aed47857e93`. The matching image is `artifacts/ship-model-reference/client-copy/EliteDangerous64.exe`. All function and data addresses below are RVAs in that image. The Steam image was subsequently updated; these addresses are not a compatibility claim for the updated executable. ## Setting and renderer The original string `ShowSystemConnectors` is at `52A1408`. Its entry in the settings name table is `529A638`, index **49 / 0x31** relative to table start `529A4B0`. UI builder `3A819C0` obtains setting `0x31` through settings vfunc `+1F0` and creates its checkbox with that same setting index. Line renderer **3AF2E60** obtains exactly this setting and applies it to line categories **0 and 1**. Categories **2 and 3** bypass this switch. There are also original mode exclusions: raw `RealisticView == 2` with raw `PoliticsMode == 1` disables categories 0/1; raw `RealisticView == 4` with visualisation mode 4 also disables them. These raw values must retain their separately verified current-version meanings. The renderer resolves component ID global `5F05DD0` through the local-player component container. Its type getter is `2600870`, interface vtable `529E328`. Vfunc `+130` / **2600D50** returns: ```text interface + 0x280 + mode * 0x2E8 ``` There are seven vector headers, stride `0x18`, and each line has two float4 endpoints, stride `0x20`. This is the original NavRoute component already used by `Navigation.Fsd.cs`, rather than a separate grid projection component. ## Actual endpoint geometry NavRoute producer **25FED60** establishes the geometry directly. It selects a mode block at: ```text block = objectBase + 0x168 + mode * 0x2E8 ``` At its final append block (`1425FF694` in the decompiler output), the first header offset is `block + 0x170`, or category 0. It instead selects `block + 0x188`, category 1, if the edge's float at graph-node offset `+0x3C` exceeds the threshold returned by **2604810(objectBase, mode)**. The first header therefore equals `interface(+0x58) + 0x280`, matching the renderer. The appended record copies: ```text endpoint 0 XYZ = graph node A + 0x20 (three original floats) endpoint 1 XYZ = graph node B + 0x20 (three original floats) endpoint 0 W = 0 endpoint 1 W = 0 ``` The surrounding loop resolves two graph nodes using their system IDs and adjacency lookup, skipping duplicate edge pairs. Both endpoints retain their full original XYZ. It does not substitute zero, focus height, or grid height for either Y coordinate. Consequently, **ShowSystemConnectors controls connections between star systems**, with categories split by the original distance threshold. It does not describe the vertical line from a star down to a map plane. Separately drawn route categories 2/3 remain visible independently of this option. This analysis does not establish the original setting for any grid stalks. ## Implementation consequence and evidence files Importing `ShowSystemConnectors` into the tool's jump-connection option is consistent with the original geometry. Reusing that option as an additional gate for grid stalks conflates two distinct geometries; stalk visibility needs its own verified setting or an explicitly tool-specific option.
